Manure Cure – A Compost Project

School: Precious Blood Secondary School

Category: Environment, Sanitation, Agriculture

The Finalist team from Precious Blood Secondary School wants to implement an urban composting project.

Landfills are not made to breakdown organic waste so when all of our organic waste is put in landfills it creates an immense amount of green house gasses. Also…Fertilizer is very expensive and chemical fertilizer can be very harmful for the environment.

The teams wants to build a community composting bin where everyone in the neighborhood brings their organic waste. The composting bin creates organic fertilizer which is great for the environment and can be sold back to the community much cheaper than traditional, chemical fertilizer. This saves space in landfills and is far better for the environment.
