The finalist team from Precious Blood Secondary School wants to build motion sensors to help with wildfires and stop poachers.
Wildfires and poaching are both seriously problems in Kenya’s national parks killing thousands of animals as well as many people every year. Wildlife is one of Kenya’s biggest money makers and one of the country’s biggest prides so these issues seriously affect the economy and biodiversity of Kenya.
The group hopes to notify park officials to suspicious activity by placing motion sensors in the park. These sensors should be able to show officials when someone is not where they are supposed to be as well as showing when and where fires are spreading.
